“Personal information” is information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database) whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion.

“Sensitive information” is a subset of personal information. It means information or opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual preferences or practices, criminal record or health information.

1.             The Service collects personal information including sensitive information  of the User and stores it in their electronic database for the purposes relating to the provision of the Service or its promotion, including:

1.1           matching the User with potentially suitable other Users;

1.2           offering the User any new or further facilities or services that might be relevant or of interest to the User;

1.3           tailoring marketing of the Service to the User or potential Users

1.4           tracking the browsing patterns of the User to build a history of preferences and interests to enable the Service to provide an improved matching service.

2              The Service may forward publicly available information relating to the User to other Users whom the Service believes may be a suitable match or partner.

3              The Service may collect and provide details of its Users excluding any identifying information to its partners, agents or advertisers for the purposes of promotion and advertising.

4              The Service will, to the extent it is informed by the User, keep the information stored up to date and complete.

5              The Service will only accept and collect personal information of its Users by lawful and fair means.

6              The Service will endeavour only to collect personal information from the User directly.

7              The Service takes reasonable precautions to protect User’s private information where possible but cannot guarantee the information’s security from hackers, unauthorised users, viruses or other electronic means of damage beyond the Service’s control.

8              The Service cannot and does not take responsibility for the communication or repetition of information that a User posts publicly in his or her profile or contains in any email or other correspondence, by other Users or third parties.

9              The User consents to the collection and storage of his or her private information by the Service upon registration or obtaining membership of the Service.

10            The User may enquire of the Service, about the nature and extent of personal information held about him or her and view a copy of his or her personal information.
